Rainmakers

This house was designed and built for a couple from Mesa, AZ who wanted a spacious house to set the trend in a new premier 18 hole golf course in southern New Mexico. The house has 3700 heated square feet, a three car garage, 26' vaulted ceilings, and a 1000 square foot deck that provided an unobstructed, breath-taking view of Sierra Blanca's peak in Ruidoso, NM. Sunsets viewed from this deck are incredible!

Every finish in this house exuded a high level of quality. From the cork flooring and the leather wall tiles to the custom candle wall that was installed above the master bath tub, no detail was neglected. The ceilings in the bedrooms are 10' in height, but the commanding 26' vaulted ceilings of the living room will stop any visitor in their tracks.

The Jeldwen Siteline wood windows that were installed throughout the house allowed us to stain and match all the wood work including the interior doors, baseboards, and the windows to the stained hickory cabinetry, as was desired by the owners. The numerous windows at various heights provide immeasurable natural light and create a overwhelming feel of openness to the outdoors. We installed door moulding around the wood windows to create a unique "picture frame" look that proved to be a nice touch. The doors were also grand at 8' in height with a 1 3/4" thickness so as to prevent any future warping of the taller than average doors.

In the living room, we designed and built a custom entertainment center that incorporated a flat screen TV, a stereo system, and custom framed ledges, with recessed cans and hockey puck lighting creating a cozy and aesthetically pleasing area that also provided functional entertaining space. We also installed acoustical panels, tapestries, and sound-absorbing leather wall tiles with custom cork flooring to eliminate any echoing that would otherwise have occurred in this vast room. Now when you walk in, you cannot hear a sound.

There are 3 bedrooms and a study that could be classified as a bedroom because it has a closet and an adjacent bathroom. All the bathrooms have custom tile showers with glass block walls and sleek frameless shower doors. The Delta Brizo line was used for the plumbing fixtures along with upgraded rectangular porcelain drop-in sinks. The master bath has granite countertops with a sitting area in between the vanity sinks creating a relaxing space for getting ready. The master tub was arranged at an angle in the room and a candle wall was built into the wall behind the tub for candle lit lighting and a tranquil ambiance. The tub, master shower, and candle wall all have custom tile work that ties together with accented deco pieces. A granite bench is set in to the corner of the master shower for relaxing in the shower or sitting while shaving. The master closet contains custom Closetmaid drawers and shelving making organization a breeze. An island with a granite top finishes out the closet for laying out clothes or other personal items.

The exterior of the house contains rockwork from the ground up to the eaves along the front of the house. A lifetime warrantied Girard roof, which is basically asphalt-coated steel shingles, was installed for maintenance ease. The rear portion of the house that contains the great view of the mountains has a covered deck with T&G wood ceilings and Timbertech flooring and hand railing which further reduces home maintenance needs. The Timbertech flooring was installed with clips that are screwed into deck floor joists and then slid into a groove in the flooring material. This allows for no visible fasteners with a very clean finish. The ceiling is constructed using a 30" x 8" Gluelam beam that spans 30' and enabled us to create a big space with no posts in between.

The look and feel of this home is grand with lavish upgrades but boasts comfort, warmth, and livable space.
